Rydrea Walker is a Deaf filmmaker, media executive, and the Founder & CEO of WarriorsGate Entertainment, Inc., a Deaf-led media company focused on film, live sports production, and original digital content. Based in Los Angeles, California, he has spent over a decade building media infrastructure that centers Deaf and Hard of Hearing creators while delivering compelling stories to broad audiences. His work blends visual storytelling, accessibility, and disciplined execution across education, sports, and entertainment.
Born on May 3, 1995, in Fayette, Alabama, with bilateral profound hearing loss, Walker is the first generation Deaf member of the Walker and Billups families. At age seven, he transferred to the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega, Alabama, where he excelled academically — graduating as salutatorian of the Class of 2015. He later earned an Associate of Applied Science in Design and Imaging Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology through the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. While at NTID, he was one of seven students who co-founded Morpheyes Studio — an award-winning, Deaf-led creative production studio known for its commitment to authentic Deaf representation, storytelling, and media. Walker was subsequently accepted into the Cinema and Television Arts program at California State University, Northridge.
Walker's journey into filmmaking began early. At 17, while still a student at ASD, he released his first short film, Bob Movie (2013), which earned Third Place for Best Short Film at the Jacksonville State University Technology Fair in the Central East Region of Alabama. He went on to complete several short films — including Sleeper Chair (2013), Battle of Evil (2014), and Never Forget… (2016) — and produced the feature-length Battle of Evil: Part Two. His creative interests span directing, producing, writing, and editing, supported by a strong technical foundation in graphic design, live streaming, and post-production, including Adobe Premiere Pro since his early teens.
In 2023, Walker served as Grip, Second Assistant Camera, and Drone Operator on Jesus: A Deaf Missions Film, contributing to on-location production for one of the largest-budget Deaf-led films ever produced. His short film ERASED has earned notable recognition within the disability and independent film communities — receiving an Official Selection at the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, a nomination for Best Awareness presented by Amazon MGM Studios, a screening at the Heartland International Film Festival, and additional Official Selections at the Together! Disability Film Festival and the Little Venice Film Festival.
Through WarriorsGate Entertainment, Walker continues to expand a multi-division media portfolio spanning film production, live streaming, original content development, and accessible distribution. Under his leadership, WGEPlus.tv has emerged as a Deaf-centric streaming platform, and the WGE Basketball Classic has grown into a premier annual Deaf sports event. His leadership approach balances creativity with accountability — emphasizing long-term growth, cultural impact, and professional standards at every level of the organization.
